Truman is proud to have 21 men's and women's varsity athletic teams that compete in the NCAA Division II and the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Conference.

The natatorium, houses a 6-lane, 25-yard swimming pool.  Truman's men's and women's swim teams use this facility for meets in the winter and spring months.  In recent years, both teams have competed in national tournaments, with the women's swimming team winning national championships six years in a row (2001-2005).  The natatorium is also open for general use at times throughout the week.

The outdoor athletic venues include Stokes Stadium, home of the Truman State University Bulldogs football team and the men's and women's track teams. Stokes Stadium, which also houses the Kenneth Gardner Track, is sporting new stadium lights for the fall 2007 season.

Truman's men's and women's soccer teams attract large crowds for their home games at the soccer field located a short distance from Stokes Stadium. Also nearby, students can also watch tennis matches or play some tennis on the lighted tennis courts.  Truman's baseball and softball teams compete at the ball fields directly south of Stokes Stadium.

Pershing Arena is located in Pershing Building and has three basketball courts.  The middle court is used for women's varsity volleyball, and men's and women's varsity basketball events. Students can also use handball and racquetball courts located next to the arena.
